Server Rules
Players must agree to follow all Venris rules. Failure to follow these rules may result in action taken against you or your account.General Rules
- Game Accounts: Each person may create three game accounts (these are accounts with unique login names to Venris's game client). If you make more than three accounts, those extra accounts may be subject to suspension or forced consolidation by our default system.
- Third-Party Cheats / Mods: Botting, hacking or any use of any third-party programs that automate or provide unfair advantages to gameplay are strictly prohibited. Third party programs include the use of auto farming macros, auto-hotkeys and auto-clickers that can harm the economy and the nature of grinding. Any suspected third-party program use by players may result in a permanent ban. When a GM Patrol team is checking your grinding or leveling activity, you have to stop and do whatever they told you to do. there will be warnings from them for ignoring a Patrol team, if you still ignore Patrol GMs when they come to you after more than once, you will get permanently banned. You may only use the game client provided by Venris on our download page or through our patch client. You are not allowed to modify files within the client provided to you by Venris that affect the visual representation of the game and its resources or gameplay itself. If and when exceptions are made, they will be made here.EXCEPTION: Greyworld is allowed.EXCEPTION: UI skins are allowed as this is an officially approved modification (share your skins with the community!)EXCEPTION: Homunculus AIs are allowed to the extent that they do not automatically feed your Homunculus or cause the player character to take any actions that do not require direct user input.
- Exploits: Exploiting or using bugs or attempts at exploitative behavior will result in a permanent ban. Please report any bugs or potential exploits to the Venris staff immediately.
- Imitation of Staff: Game Masters and Community Managers are identifiable by their in-game sprites and/or names prefixed by the [GM] or [CM] tag. Attempts to imitate or name characters in a way similar to Venris staff may require action against that character or account, including but not limited to a forced name change, or temporary/permanent suspension depending on severity.
- Real Money Transactions: Real money transactions for items, in-game currency, accounts, leeching services, or other services are supposed to be policies of each player and will never get a special handling or support from Venris Team. The price action of Real Money Trading will not be supported directly by Venris RO. Opposite actions will go through permanent suspension of account privileges.
- Suggestion: Suggestion is not supposed to be an opression. All kind of suggestion is subjective and will never fit all players interest. Players must be wise in giving suggestions. Decission by the team will not be affected by player's persistence especially if the requested thing tends to be self-interested. imposing a suggestion will result in a warning or account suspension.
- Account Sharing: You are highly advised to protect your account details and password and you should not share such details with anyone else. Any loss of items and characters will not be restored and Venris Team will not be able to help you. Further, any actions taken by other parties that violate our rules that result in action against your account will not be reversed. If you are actively using a shared account, it will totally be your responsibility. Therefore, it is best practice to not share accounts at all. But if you are still using a shared account, you are by other words allowing other people to do whatever they want to your account. We strongly suggest you do not share your account even with loved ones or friends. While there are some instances of guilds and small groups sharing a utility character such as a brewer or forger, we still advise against this not only for protection of your account details, but the fact that if the person using the account performs illicit activities such as borrowing items or other misunderstanding, any report against this rule will not be handled or even both accounts will receive a punishment as a result of violating the Rules. As Venris Players, you ought to follow all the rules including the account sharing policy.
Communication Rules
- Social Etiquette: Public chat and private chat may not be used to spam, harass, or annoy other players. While the primary language is English, public chat may be requested by speakers of other languages on the game. Please use the appropriate langauge in any kind of interaction with other players.
- Reporting Behavior: Please take screenshots of any serious infractions of harassment or behavior that grossly violates our rules and submit them to the Report section of the forums. Private messages that are unwanted should be blocked by using the command “/ex
”. Please remember that unwanted messages do not necessarily constitute harassment. However, messages containing, racist, homophobic or sexual content should be reported (via screenshot) and may result in the temporary mute or suspension of the party sending such content. - Game Masters / Community Managers: GMs will never ask you for your items or password in-game, on the Discord Server or on our site. GMs will not give away zeny, items, or assist players in any ways with the exception of certain events that allow GM interaction. Please understand our GMs and CMs are human beings who mainly act as volunteers out of love for the game and server. They deserve your patience and should be treated like any other member of our community as they help you.
- Other RO Servers: Please reserve discussion, advertisement, or recommendations of other servers to appropriate forums such as RateMyServer or other fan communities. Users advertising other services or goods from other servers may receive a temporary or permanent ban, including causal mentions of any other server.
Gameplay Rules
- General Rule of Thumb: Each player is expected to create a welcoming community. While competition and banter is allowed, overt “griefing” or harassment of other players may be punishable by warning or other severe means.
- Kill Stealing: Players are expected to make a good faith effort to not kill steal from other players—that is the purposeful killing of other players’ tagged monsters. Accidental kill stealing should be forgiven. However, if victim of a repeat kill stealer, please record video or submit substantial evidence through screenshots and video documenting the *repeated* kill stealing behavior of the other person. Please note that only the most serious infractions will be investigated.Being a victim of kill stealing does not invite you to harass or insult the other player. Remember that two wrongs do not make a right. Kill Steal Reports include people who only drain more than half of the monsters HP in the map just to secure the loot. Snipping only last damage of the MVP is not considered a kill steal. MVP kill competition is not considered a kill steal. This kind of report will need a serious documentation such as recording as evidence.
- Mobbing: Mobbing, that is the gathering of mobs to kill all at once, is allowed to the extent that it does not affect other players. Remember that a map of monsters is NEVER owned by 1 group/person, it is available for everyone. If your mob of monsters are randomly killed by other players, you can only report this to GM if that person is doing it purposely and only to annoy you without hunting/farming intent. Mobbing is only allowed if the party or players responsible for the stacked monsters to be killed quickly without disturbing the natural respawn time of monsters. A player mobbing monsters without the intent to kill them will be considered griefing and will get warning & punishment as well.
- MVP Rules: MVPs are not considered subject to the kill stealing rule and any player may attack them. Loot is also free-for-all if multiple parties or players are competing for the kill. Loot priority is programmed to favor the player(s) with the highest damage output. Using skills such as Pneuma or other things to purposely grief without any intention of competiting with other players will not be tolerated. It is PVM not PVP when you are killing MVPs.
- Griefing: Skills should be used for the benefit of players and eradication of mobs. Players using skills to harass other players may be subject to punishment. Examples would be trapping players using ice wall or buffing mobs to grief players. These rules are not applicable in PVP situations.
- Vending and Chat Rooms: We request you stay off of the taken vending spot and keep vending to the areas designated for vending (payon). If you have any questions about where to vend, please refer to the image below as a reference. If in doubt, see what other vendors are doing and if you still have questions please ask us on the forums!
Other Punishable Offenses
- Mob Griefing: The gathering of mobs with the intention to kill another player is not permitted. While some situations cause players to run past you with mobs that may switch their targeting to you, especially in dungeons with tight corridors, the intentional gathering of mobs with the sole purpose of killing another player is a possibly bannable offense. If you become victim to this abuse, please provide us with video showing the player heading towards you with mobs, and purposely running those mobs into you or using skills such as hide, teleport or vanish near you to force those mobs to attack you. Note that this is a difficult offense to prove and the more visual evidence (especially video evidence) you provide, the better. The offender’s name should be visible in all reported media. The usage of Dead Branches near or on top of unsuspecting players with the intention of directly killing them is also not permitted and is a form of mob griefing. It is fine to use Dead Branches in maps, but do not use them directly near players. Find an isolated spot to use them.
- Loot Stealing: We have prolonged the duration of items on the floor by 50%. it's gonna be prioritized for the killer first. An item loss from getting stolen by other players is not something that we will take care of
- Scamming: Sellers should be very careful about listing items at their intended prices. Buyers as well should look carefully at any item they buy to ensure it is the right item at the price they intend to pay with the correct number of sockets (if equipment). Players grossly misrepresenting items that they are selling may be subject to punishment depending on the severity.DO NOT AGREE TO ANY INDIRECT TRADING SUCH AS TRADING AN ITEM BETWEEN TWO CHARACTERS IN EXCHANGE FOR AN ITEM OR ZENY ON A THIRD CHARACTER.
- Illegal or Inappropriate Content: Content including but not limited to sex, nudity, gore, violence, drugs, racial slurs, homophobic, or other prejudiced content is unwelcomed in our community and will be punished depending on the severity of such comments. Again, please first try to ignore the player, but if the player persists with such remarks or content, please report that player to our staff for investigation.
False Reporting
Please be responsible when reporting people for infractions. The report system is used to weed out cheaters and bad actions from other players. It is not a system to be used to weaponize against other players you don’t like. Mass reporting wastes Venris staffs’ time and makes our jobs much more difficult. We ask that you understand that us staff members volunteer our free time to the server out of a labor of love to both the game and server project and do not have time to investigate every single petty infraction. If suspecting a player of rule breaking something such as griefing, please be ABSOLUTELY SURE that they are guilty before filing a report, most in game trouble is going to be discussed between the 2 parties that have issue including GM as a middle man. If you sure that a report is worth the time and attention, we advise you to proceed reporting.Your reports should come with evidence of the infractions if possible. Reports of “So-and-So did this” or “This person just stole a monster from me” or “This person has an acolyte auto following them, they must be dual using 3rd party program” with zero evidence or for small one-offs wastes our time and will not be investigated. Please refer to the rules themselves when deciding if something is reportable or not.Remember the story lessons from “The Boy Who Cried Wolf”. Users who constantly overuse the report system for tiny infractions may have their reports go ignored. We encourage players to use the other tools in-game available to them to ignore or block the player first before escalating the situation to a moderator.Weaponizing the report system to grief a player is the same as harassment and may be punishable as such with the same penalty.
Discord Rules
- No Spamming: Spamming refers to sending irrelevant messages, or a large amount of messages in a large volume. People spamming messages may be warned or muted.
- No Insults or Harassment: Sometimes people may have different opinions with one another, but that doesn’t give the right for personal attacks, derogatory statements, or insults. People caught in a heated argument may be warned once to cease. Mute time or permanent removal from the Discord server may follow after if the behavior continues. Try and keep the peace. If someone is upsetting you, block them. Constantly pinging a user who doesn’t wish to engage with you will be considered harassment. If someone is bothering you, don’t make a scene. DM a moderator.
- Remain Civil: Respect is a two way street. Please treat others how you would like to be treated in return. If someone is uncomfortable with an edgy topic and asks for it to stop, please respect their wishes or continue the discussion in DMs.
- No Sexual, Racist, or Homophobic Content: The occasional “PG” innuendo as a joke is fine; we all giggled at the naughty “PP” joke from Pokémon as little kids, but try to keep it clean. Content including but not limited to sex, nudity, gore, violence, drugs, racial slurs, homophobic, or other prejudiced content is unwelcomed in our community and will be punished depending on the severity of such comments.
- Use Appropriate Channels: Channels exist for a reason. Try to keep the channels on topic. We understand that sometimes conversations steer off course now and then, but try to keep them on track. Channels such as Bug Reports, Suggestion Box, or Support are not the channels for debates and discussion as it harms the staff's ability to respond appropriately to actual problems.
- Real Money Transactions: Do not post offerings for items with the intention to sell/buy/trade for real currency, keep it private with your client only! People found doing this will be permanently removed from the Discord Server immediately. Only currency, services and items within the server itself are allowed to be offered and traded in the Market Forum. Everything related to the responsibility of Real Money Trading is beyond Venris Team obligation
- Other RO Servers: Please reserve discussion, advertisement, or recommendations of other servers to appropriate forums such as RateMyServer or other fan communities. Do not deliberately mention any other server's name, but a casual mention is sometimes tolerable. We are our own server and do not need constant comparisons such as "X server did this". We of course are open to improvement, but ultimately what we decide to implement will be dictated based on community wants and technical limitations.
